When looking for a home inspector, you don’t want someone who just sat in a class to get their home inspector license. You want someone with actual experience in the construction industry, and that is exactly who I am. I started my construction career as a young boy. During the summers, I would help my uncle with residential plumbing, and my grandfather taught me how to lay hardwood floors. Every summer, I would learn more and be given more responsibility. These are the roots of my over 25 years in construction.
From residential and commercial plumbing, to stick framing custom homes, and historical renovations of homes built in the late 1700s, I have worked in nearly every facet of construction. I worked in a cabinet shop for a few years, learning the proper techniques to build quality cabinetry. I am proud to be a master of carpentry, an expert at tile work, and have vast knowledge and experience in plumbing. After moving to South Carolina, I worked as a superintendent for a custom home builder, as well as some spec builders, eventually obtaining my own residential builder’s license.
With all the knowledge I have of how a home is built and how the systems operate, I wanted to share my knowledge with clients, so I started inspecting homes in 2014. I have inspected over 2,200 homes during my tenure as a home inspector, and I find it to be an important yet enjoyable career. Unlike a franchise, here at Matthews Home Inspections, I focus on quality, not quantity, inspections. I am so confident that you will be satisfied with my performance as an inspector that I put my name on it!
I offer a thorough inspection, easy to read report, and as much time as you need to answer any questions you may have. Since I am a licensed home builder, I can make structural evaluations that a home inspector alone is not allowed to do. Let me put my expertise in construction to work for YOU!
